Alpine Climb L2 – Summit Mt Karamatsu, Hakuba Mar 21-22

Alpine Climb L2 – Summit Mt Karamatsu, Hakuba Mar 21-22 You’ve stared up at it for such a long time – now it’s time to stand on top of it for this Winter Alpine Climb to the Summit of Mt Karamatsu, Hakuba. Where you have a 360º view of the northern alps and Hakuba Valley on the clearest days. Our certified alpine guides (ACMG, JMGA) will expertly teach you all the fundamentals for your climb. Stay over for day 01 at the Happo Ike Sanso for pre-training and get set for the early start push to reach if not the first ridge summit but the true Karamatsu Summit!

Day 01: Teaching refresh mountaineering gear use, steep ascending, emergency arrests, avalanche/companion rescue with basic rope, snow/ice hiking skills, reading weather & planning trip, how and what to pack.

Day 02: With an early alpine start (04:30) to make a push to the summit, allowing plenty of time for extra guidance, enjoying the views and a safe descent down the mountain to arrive before dark (17:00)

Please note for any first timers with JOI we will run you through standard check on the snow and do an avalanche safety check along with self-arrest and standard ridge walking with boot-pack or snowshoe option possible.

The first evening we will stay at the Happo Ike Sanso – which is NOT included in the fee, we will reserve your stay with dinner and payment can be made direct at lodge (not breakfast as will be early start). It is important you bring snacks, hydration and enough food for the full-day summit push on DAY 02 – as there are no Conbini on top of the mountain, however possible to get items from the lodge.
