AST REFRESHER & BC INTRO Dec 21 Hakuba

Join our combined AST Refresh tour and BC INTRO Dec 21 Hakuba – Both courses are aimed at giving everyone a brush up / intro to basic AST skills – using gear, practising search and recovery of burials and to dust off the gear and go for a fun tour with professional AST instructors! As we are in 3 groups with 3 instructors & guides, we will let the groups naturally divide for individuals skill sets. Otherwise along with being safer – you also effectively get a group tour for a good price! So its a win win!

Our Backcountry Intro 2 course is basically like an AST LITE version, for people who have already taken our BC Intro Level 1 course or those who have toured a few times – but more specifically wanting to understand more for safety and enjoyment to be comfortable. WE push a little further, show you more planning routes and refine skills of riding as a group for safety. Learn safe travel techniques and the principles of snow observation and how to use your avalanche gear.

A soft introduction and learning day tour to experience backcountry touring, learn the basics, safety and help progress your off-piste skills
Specially developed to be accessible for anyone interested in giving ski/snowboard touring a go – learn on the snow with us and take the pressure off joining to keep up with more advanced crew

Consider it a Q+A training and tour divided in to 2 progressive levels:
BC1 – first timers introduction to off-piste BC touring, getting used to skiing/riding off-piste in deep powder & learn to use avi safety gear
BC2 – for those that have toured, can ski off-piste confidently, however still feel out of their depth with whats going on & want more 1-on-1 time

Course Duration: 1 Day for each level
Course Fee: ¥25,000 (per day)
Course Equipment: Touring Skis / Splitboard / Snowshoes & Avalanche Kit *Rental package available
Pre-Requisites: Competent skiing/riding on-piste (not for beginners)
Progression: Next level up to AST1+ Avalanche Skills Training / 2 days

Rentals:
– Avalanche set (1 day) – ¥3,000 includes Transceiver, probe, shovel and 18-20L touring pack
– Touring ski or splitboard set (1 day) – ¥8,000
