This special Level 1 training at yatsugatake extends the chance to stay for two days at the lodge and climb to a higher level.

First, try your skills at ice climbing this winter! It’s really an amazing adventure and something that once it gets its ‘hooks’ in you – you’ll be coming back for more! It’s not as terrifying as you think and in many ways a much safer sport than rock climbing!

Our introduction course is aimed at bringing participants to a safe and easy access environment using Man-Made ice falls close to lodging and warmth! Take careful training and instruction to learn about the gear, how to get setup, wear and use for your first Top-Rope ascent!
With our talented certified alpine guides (JMCG & ACMG), you’ll feel at ease to absorb their expert guidance to learn the fundamentals of ice climbing.

Price: ¥25,000 p/day per person (not include Ice Wall usage)
Participants: Max 4 climbers per instructor

Requirements: Good level of fitness, experience hiking, comfortable in sub zero temperature with suitable outdoor wear.
Gear: Boots, helmet, headlamp, crampons, ice axe – Also available for rent ( ¥5,000 per set)
Experience: Beginner to Intermediate
