Saku Crag is an easily accessible outdoor spot for groups from Tokyo – with convenient short drive from Shinkansen Saku Daira Station OR less than 2 hrs by car.
With a super easy and short 5 minute approach, climbers are offered endless walls with routes for beginners from 5.8 all the way to grades up to 5.13 to challenge the most expert climbers. Routes are all bolted sports routes with modern hangers and reliable anchors.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN FOR LEVEL 1
• Learn about general approaches to climbing using your climbing gear and why, setting up at a crag (& Etiquettes), handy ‘pro-tips’ of things to bring, along with of course a safety briefing.
• Then get started on learning your basic knots, climbing redundancy, climbing buddy checks, initial top-rope climbing/belaying ascending/descending and correct communication.
• Finally get more comfortable and start refining technique with climbing hand & foot holds, body positions and route spotting. You will expect to climb between 4-6 routes over the day, sometimes less and sometimes more depending on how you are experiencing the day!
Within our training area, there is little to worry with no great exposure, and easy resting area safe from rockfall and nicely shaded from sun and well protected from the rain, with toilet nearby – so it’s the perfect environment to build your confidence outdoors!
*Training & schedule is weather dependent for safety. During extreme storms training may be delayed or postponed to another date. Please check our cancellation / returns policy – due to weather, if we can not move to another day we will then either credit or refund your payment.
