For the overnight stay you can book the Kinpusan Sanso lodge & onsen OR pay for camping on the day.
Experience: Intermediate Level (some experience outdoors on Top-Rope climbing up to 5.10a / 5.6a routes)

Ogawayama along with Mizugaki, is one of Japan’s climbing musts! With literally hundreds of routes and five Topo-books to list them in the area, you have your choice of almost any style of climbing. Make the most of your time with our expert guide/instructor to help advance your climbing!

Getting to Ogawayama can be tricky without a car, so our guide will run a pickup service from Saku Daira station and drive 1.5 hrs approx to the location. Choose your overnight stay whether camping or lodge. We have some camping rentals available on request.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN FOR LEVEL 2
• Get expert ‘pro-tips’ and learn more in-depth about your climbing gear use, extra items that can be handy and why? Ask questions for things you have wondered and we’ll find you an answer
• Refine and learn more knots and the importance of dressing them well, refresh on climbing redundancy & buddy checks, if iot’s your first time with us, we’ll run through a warmup of short initial top-rope climbing/belaying ascending/descending and correct communication check
• Learn to climb more challenging routes on top-rope & have the possibility if it’s your goal to learn about lead climbing on 5.8-5.9 routes. Improve on endurance and efficiency of climbing with better holds, body position and advanced techniques.
• Also we run through cleaning/setting quick-draws routes and anchors for lead climbing and following.
• If time and interest we will touch on multi-pitch climbing and this can bring you into another climbing trip for level 3 in the future!

You will expect to climb between 4-6 routes each day, sometimes less and sometimes more depending on how you are experiencing the day!
We will choose routes accordingly to the day and crowds – please be prepared for some river crossing that maybe need sandals or shoes off

*Training & schedule is weather dependent for safety. During extreme storms training may be delayed or postponed to another date. Please check our cancellation / returns policy – due to weather, if we can not move to another day we will then either credit or refund your payment.

Language: Your instructor speaks Japanese, Chinese & English fluently.
Requirements: Good level of fitness, can climb & belay top-rope up to 5.10a + / may or may not have tried lead climbing
Gear: (All can be provided on request for rental) Outdoor / Approach shoes, climbing shoes, helmet, climbing harness, self arrest belay device – Full rental set is ¥6,000 per day
Grading: Expect Beginner Level to Intermediate Level (US 5.8-5.10b, FR 5-6b)
Routes: Single Pitch, bolted hanger sports routes with set carabiner anchors
